CAF official Amaju Pinnick has said that Morocco intends to put in a bid to host the 2026 World Cup before the deadline next month.
According to online sources, interested countries have been given a deadline of August 11 to state their interest in hosting the competition.
USA, Canada, and Mexico have already stated their interest.
Pinnick, speaking to BBC Sport, said:
I’ve been told Morocco wants to put in its bid and CAF will support them 100 per cent. I’d be surprised if Morocco does not put in a bid, but I think they will.
It’s a country that can host the world. They are very hospitable people, there is a good network of roads and have practically everything
European and Asian countries are not eligible to put in bids due to FIFA’s rotational hosting policy, as Russia is to host in 2018 and Qatar in 2022.
Morocco has attempted but failed in four previous World Cup bids in 1994, 1998, 2006 and 2010.
